About The AI Accountant

The AI Accountant was founded in 2026 by Peter McCarroll, the founder of Fuel Accountants, a practice management consultancy that has helped hundreds of accounting firms improve their operations and profitability.

We noticed a gap in the market: plenty of AI hype, very little practical guidance for accountants. Every software vendor was claiming to be "AI-powered," LinkedIn was full of breathless predictions about the end of the profession, but almost nobody was doing the hard work of testing tools, documenting real-world implementations, and providing honest assessments of what actually works.

Our Mission

We exist to be the trusted, independent voice for accountants navigating the AI revolution. We test the tools ourselves. We share real implementation stories — including the failures. We translate technical concepts into plain language. And we never accept payment from tool vendors in exchange for positive coverage.
